Welcome back! I hope you all have enjoyed a wonderful holiday break. Before you return to school for the second semester (January 9th, 2012), please make sure you clean up your math binder and have all the supplies ready (i.e. pencils, ruler, red pen). We have organized the binder in class before the break; however, you are responsible to store all the notes and homework assignments from first semester at home until the end of the school year.  See you next Monday!

We will be spending a lot of time graphing in Chapter 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Here is a version of graph paper that has three coordinate girds on each page with enough room to show your work.

If you like to try different format of graph papers, here is a good link:  Free Printable Graph Papers

There was some misunderstanding about the Algebra 1 grade and its impact on students’ high school transcript and GPA. Here is a message sent from Mr. Brian Safine (Saratoga High’s Assistant Principal) this morning:

“The high school level classes- Algebra 1 and Geometry- taken in middle school appear on our transcript to show the steps of the math progression. However, the grades for these classes are NOT factored into the high school g.p.a. or the college g.p.a.”

I hope you had a wonderful summer break and I look forward to meeting you on August 22. In the mean time, take a few minutes to get familiar with the webpage. A hard copy of syllabus and supply list will be distributed on the first day of school. Homework pages (make sure you choose the right one) are updated every Sunday afternoon to be used as a reference. Assignments might change during the week due to special circumstances. Please always pay attention to the classroom whiteboard and in-class announcements regarding daily assignments.
